Donnel Barnum Artist.
Artist Statement
My aim in my art is to create a quiet, peaceful place for the viewer to enjoy. My subject matter originates from sundrenched fields and beaches. I am fascinated with simple structures and their relationship within a landscape, and in most of my canvases, a small barn appears, a symbol of warmth, shelter and harvest.
When I paint, oil is my medium and my fingers are my tools with which I simplify and capture the landscape and light. Color is one of the primary components in my work. I carry my palette in my head and start to mix colors as I stumble upon an incredible view.
I have been drawing and painting since childhood, nurtured and supported by my family. As an adult I am fortunate to be able to use my art skills daily as a professional Illustrator and Painter.
